A sliding beam is a horizontal beam movably fixed on a rack in such a way as to allow the beam to block access through a controlled point for all/some vehicle types.

Sliding beam is something between barrier=lift_gate and barrier=sliding_gate: it has a quite thin bar like in lift gate, but the bar slides aside to allow through.

If motor vehicle access is not specified, motor_vehicle=no implied. Depending on adjacent objects (fences, sidewalks, etc.) or sticking out degree a sliding beam may allow or forbid foot/bicycle access.

Sliding beam that forbids also foot/bicycle access

How to map

Place a node on a highway=* or other transportation way and tag the node with barrier=sliding_beam.
