The tag military_service=navy is added to military establishments, facilities and features to indicate that they are operated by the Navy: a country's military force that primarily conducts naval warfare

It is to be used for all Navy units, be they Regular, full-time forces, or part-time, volunteer Reserve forces.

This tag is not to be used for such groups as youth-based Military Cadets, military historical or re-enactment groups, or Veterans groups.

How to map

Create an area around the grounds or a node at the centre and add military_service=navy to a primary feature tag such as landuse=military, to map a military establishment or facility that is operated by the Navy.

Tags used in combination

  • landuse=military
  • military=base - for a naval base
  • name=* - <name of the feature> e.g. Her Majesty's Naval Base, Portsmouth / Enoggera Barracks
  • operator=* - <the name of the Service that operates the feature in the local language>
