In darkness or poor visibility, taxiways are marked with blue lights on both sides for better visibility, unlike runways, which are illuminated in white. Taxiway edge lights are omnidirectional lights in overhead or underfloor construction.
A distinction is made between:
- TXE: blue taxiway edge lights.
- TXC: green taxiway centreline lights.
