This is a business which offers long-term rental of storage space. This space may be rooms to store goods like furniture and personal items, or parking spaces for boats, recreational vehicles, or other vehicles.
How to map
If the storage facility is a single building, add this tag in addition to the building tag. If it has multiple buildings, add an area around all the buildings and their infrastructure with this tag. Do not tag each building with the tag.
At a minimum use shop=storage_rental and name=*.
History
This tag was rejected during the tag proposal process due to a lack of interest.
iD adopted it as a preset nonetheless 8 months later due to lack of any viable alternative for tagging of such object, leading to it becoming well used.
