Alternatives to WebGL?
Hello, I like the F4 maps a lot. However, my system doesn't support WebGL. XNavigator can be run as Applet; I suppose that using JebGL should be feasible. Cf. https://code.google.com/p/jebgl/ --RalfG (talk) 14:18, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Java Applets have a bad reputation due to security issues. A lot of warning messages pop up when OpenGL applets are loaded. The Java Plugin is deactivated by default on most browsers. I assume that in a few years everybody will have WebGL capable browsers, even on smart phones --Aschilli (talk) 12:02, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Idea for a new 3D viewer: Wireframe view
Show see-through elements, which would be useful to see elements inside of buildings.
- This would indeed be an awesome feature! It's something I'm planning to build into OSM2World, and making this possible is actually one of the goals behind the design of Simple Indoor Tagging. Although I would probably use a user interface metaphor where you can "cut off" a building's levels from the top (or make them transparent) with a slider to view indoor features. I tried to list that as a GSoC project idea last year. Will try again this year – if it doesn't work out, I'm probably just going to do it myself. --Tordanik 16:49, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
- Here's a sketch I made showing wireframes being useful for indoor map routing. But certainly a UI slider to highlight a level of a building (highlight 3rd floor, make all other floors and structures a bit less visible) is a good idea to explore as well. Kinda like how Google Maps currently handles their multi-level viewer. (like this) --Jamiegray (talk) 19:15, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
Help needed:
I'm trying to figure out how to add light green / light red background colors to the "license" table to make it easier to see FOSS vs proprietary software --Jamiegray (talk) 02:55, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
- You can use the
{{free}}
and{{nonfree}}
templates. Just place them before that table cell's text. (They're light blue and purple rather than green and red, though. If that's an issue, you could use the "yes" and "no" templates instead.) --Tordanik 20:21, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
