Gross Pollutant Trap
@Fanfouer: Your Proposal:Outlets_proposal included two types of gross pollutant traps (outlet=sock and outlet=screen) however there are other types including:
- From https://www.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/live/environment-and-sustainability/in-your-neighbourhood/rivers-and-waterways/gross-pollutant-traps
- Diversion Systems
- Floating Boom Net
- Trash Rack
Sometimes these are installed at the outlet, but othertimes they are located along the drain or waterway. Ideally we'd have a generic tag like barrier=gross_pollutant_trap and then another tag to specify the device type (if known), since this allows mappers to map these even without knowing exactly how the device works. - Another example of a boom net being tagged with waterway=floating_barrier + seamark:obstruction:category=boom + seamark:type=obstruction > 1310838722

- Another source https://www.sydneywatertalk.com.au/waterway-health/widgets/426273/faqs refers to them as "Stormwater Quality Improvement Devices, or SQIDs" which provides the categories "Floating litter boom", "Gross pollutant trap", "Silt pit" and "Trash rack" Aharvey (talk) 02:25, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, outlet=* doesn't pretend to include all gross pollutant barriers. It describes how outlets are designed with different purposes and sometimes pollutant barriers.
- It's fine to propose additional tagging dedicated to pollutant barriers in a formal proposal to allow anyone to discuss and review it.
- This situation is similar to valves. Some are located at ducts outlets so we got outlet=valve, but we also got pipeline=valve to describe all valves even they're not located on an outlet. Fanfouer (talk) 14:09, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
