Fast connect shop.JPG Business centre shop.jpg

These are offering copy shop services, but alongside many other "communications", "business" services. It looks like they're primarily offering internet access/mobile call card shops.

Recommend adding:

  • service=computer=yes/no - provides computers for creating/editing/preparing works to print, etc
  • service=internet=yes/no - provides computers with internet
  • service=wifi=yes/no - provides wireless internet
  • service=lan=yes/no - provides ethernet jacks to internet
  • service=large_print=yes/no - does large-format (e.g. A2) printing and/or plotting
  • service=stationery=yes/no - sells paper, notebooks, folders etc.
  • service=shipping=yes/no/company - accepts packages for postal or other shipping (company for specific provider, e.g. FedEx, UPS, public post)

I boldly added service:scan=*, and I agree service:computer=* is reasonable, so I added it. I'm not sure if we should have the Internet ones or not. internet_access=* might cover it, but the problem is that does not seem to cover when multiple variants (e.g. Ethernet cable, WiFi, and in-house computers) are available at the same place. I like the idea of marking shipping, but I'm not sure if this is the right scheme. Maybe it should be something that allows multiple providers, like service:shipping:FedEx=*=yes/no. service:phone?

I don't understand what service:phone=* is for. What's the difference between this key and contact:phone=* or amenity=phone ? --Jgpacker (talk) 18:19, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

I would imagine it would be to indicate if the shop provides phones for use by clients, maybe for a fee, and not for contact. Still, it does sounds a little strange to me anyway. —Virgilinojuca (talk) 17:09, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

How to tag coin-operated copy machines in a mall?

How would we tag coin-operated copy machines (which also do prints from USB media) in a mall? The ones in question are near the information desk (not sure if they are related in any way) but not part of a shop. --Stanton (talk) 22:23, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

I agree the shop=copyshop is not a good tag for this. IMHO we could have 2 different things in this context:
  1. photocopying as an (additional, not the "main") service (a property you can add to internet cafés, shops, bars, newsagents, etc.) and
  2. publicly accessible photocopying machines.
Ideas about this:
amenity=photocopier
or maybe amenity=vending_machine with vending=photocopying
Taginfo has these notable occurences (for the property to add, not for standalone machines):
copy_facility=yes (2184)
service:copy=* (400)
copier=yes (110)
I am not particularly convinced of the word "copy" alone, as it could also refer to the reproduction of objects. --Dieterdreist (talk) 11:03, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Stop the edit war

Again we have an edit war unfolding in the Wiki. Calling an ALL participants to stop this. If you think the edits of another mapper are harmful, please add a note to that effect but do not hide anothers edits, and DISCUSS the issues on the talk page. It is here for exactly that reason. Give the Wiki users a chance to decide for themself which point of view to follow. --Lyx (talk) 16:10, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

What is the point of inline taginfo linking?

"service:computer=yes/no" is related and linked. What is the point of linking barely use, barely related tags ( https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=computer%3A )?

Similarly, linking https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=phone%3A is confusing, pointless and unhelpful.

Even "service:phone=yes/no" is very dubious and probably should be removed How many copyshops have paid phones? it is both getting vanishingly rare, and why it is supposed to be listed in shop=copyshop? Is it REALLY useful at all to mark basically all copyshops whether they have paid phone service?

For start I propose to fully remove "service:phone=yes/no" as pointless (also, right now it links to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:service for some weird reason what also makes no sense at all)

How about removing service:computer=yes in favor of internet_access=terminal? It is used more and allows more accurate info with internet_access:*. --ToastHawaii (talk) 19:11, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
That makes much more sense! This tag is actually widely used Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 20:07, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
We could leave sercvie:phone standing and say that shop=copyshop implies sercvie:phone=no. What do you think? --ToastHawaii (talk) 19:11, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

3D

I propose to add service:3dprint=yes/no and service:plotter=yes/no for large format printing. —Virgilinojuca (talk) 17:09, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
