Current Tagging does not appear to cover all cases

In some parts of the world (Argentina comes to mind), laundries which are not launderettes or laundromats are the rule. This is particularly likely to be true when washing machines are either not widely available or are too bulky and inconvenient for apartments. Most launderettes in Britain will offer a 'service wash' where a member of staff uses the machines to wash clothes which can be collected later. This type of service is different from that at a laundry where the machines are only operated by the staff of the laundry, and such places usually offer ironing services as well.

Additionally, I am familiar with a laundry which provides a self-service launderette (with service washes), a dry cleaning service, specialist laundry services (such as washing and ironing bed linen), and a full commercial laundry service all from the same premises 2133763881 2133763881. At the moment shop=laundry covers all of this, but adding a self_service=yes fails to capture the full range. This is relevant because I used laundry services in Argentina and I certainly did not want to use a launderette.

I suppose I would have preferred laundry/launderette/dry cleaning to be three distinct tags, although the problem would still arise with places which offer 2 or more of the services. Any ideas? Last wash times

In addition to operating hours, many laundromats/washaterias with coin-operated machines state a "last wash" time. How should this be tagged? --Skquinn (talk) 00:21, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Thoughts on laundry tagging

Thought #1: campsites often have washing_machine=yes or dryer=yes, maybe these can also be used on shop=laundry?

Thought #2: We already have Tag:shop=laundry and it's de-facto (~20k usages). But in my opinion, it should have been Tag:amenity=laundry, because:

• It's not a shop!
• Sometimes it's free (campuses, campsites), and shop implies money.

+1 for moving this to amenity if enough people agree. As for washer and dryer, I would think a full-fledged lanundromat would automatically have both, and I can't imagine too many situations where that wouldn't be the case.
