My main interest in OSM is to map my born city, Bogotá, Colombia. However, along the years, I have worked in different things, and I still work on some of them, and most of them are not related to Bogotá, nor Colombia.
This is the list of things I have done (without any particular order), which are not necessary mapping stuff, but related in some way to OpenStreetMap.
- Created a real OpenStreetMap logo.
- Resolve notes of Colombia. I have become one of the 100 more note closer in the World (https://osmstats.neis-one.org/?item=boards) with almost 10 thousand notes closed.
- Write a series of articles about notes:
- To help organizing osm.lat with multiples services on the cloud and locally on my server (geoserver, password vault, pad hedgedoc, forms, blog WordPress, status).
- Map the public transportation system in Bogotá, initially the bus stops in the central area.
- Create a JOSM preset to ease the addition of new bus stops for the SITP in Bogotá, and document the associated key ref:sitp=*.
- Keep in good shape the administrative boundaries and postal codes of Bogota, including rural vs urban limit, localities, UPZs and neighborhoods. These are some Overpass Turbo queries to show (and verify) that:
- Draw the ciclovías of Bogotá - https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1cWE.
- Check the boundaries and coastline of Colombia, as well as the regions and departments.
- Adjust the wiki pages and keep the Spanish-English translation synchronized for all Colombian pages. Specially, keep updated and organized the Guide to Map Colombia.
- Create more articles about how to map Colombia. For example, an addressing guide and highway names in Colombia.
- Review the wiki for descriptions in pages and data item: Category:Data item issues. I created thousands of pages for Spanish keys and values (tags), and synchronising the description in the Page description with the Data Item. Now, the page ES:Objetos del mapa has all entries in Spanish.
- Part of the idea to create hundred of tags comes from: User talk:Maro21
- I have done more that 10K changes in the wiki.
- Correct the status of all tags (in all languages): keys and values, in this wiki. It was like 2000 edits. Category:Feature descriptions with incorrect status value.
- Validate the spelling of status in wiki pages, by querying the sqlite database from taginfo.
- Translate or review the Spanish sentences of the OSM website - https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:OpenStreetMap.
- Keep the map up to date according to the Guide to Map Colombia.
- Create many challenges in MapRoulette to improve Bogota and Colombia, according to some Overpass Turbo queries using Regular Expressions.
- Create a JOSM validator for Colombian specific rules that is listed at https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Rules.
- Create a local fork of OnOSM.org for Bogota - https://maptimebogota.github.io/minegocio/.
- Create a local chapter called MaptimeBogota to strength the community and share knowledge about OSM.
- Standardize the name of rivers and streams in Colombia, by including the work Río or Quebrada accordingly.
- Correct the flow (loops) and connect rivers and streams in Colombia thanks to https://waterwaymap.org/loops#map=4.73/4.59/-72.68.
- I have created a WMS to consume these informations from JOSM and fix these issues easily.
- Correct the transitions from River to Stream (invalid), using a file form WaterwayMap.
- Improve the data of the map, specifically the areas where I have worked, by being sure that I correct as many issues as possible. This keep my HDYC profile in a good shape.
- Welcome new users by sending a message, via https://welcome.osm.be/.
- Map fire stations in Bogota.
- LATAM
- Lead the Latam community by inviting other communities to organize the bimonthly virtual meeting.
- Organize all wiki pages related to Latam, and put them under ES:LatAm.
- Interview members of the Colombian and Latam community as part of the celebration of the 20th years of OSM.
- Create how-to videos about OSM: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2DDH8ztMAgAJJ2cvE5c7ew MaptimeBogota YouTube channel.
- How to use BigBlueButton to organize a meeting.
- How to draw rivers, align rives and correct their names.
- How to use OSM Welcome tool.
- Intro the OSM Wiki editing.
- Explain the issue when importing data licensed with CC-BY into OSM (ODbL license) by creating videos and entries in my diary.
- Take thousands of photos for Mapillary (almost a million photos) with different cameras (GoPro Max, Garmin Virb XE, GoPro 7 Black, LG 360) on different ways (car, bicycle, walking).
- List of how different professions or experience can help to contribute in OSM. This is useful to create social media posts to invite other people to contribute.
- Member of the HOTOSM Community Working Group to help mentors and mentees develop the program.
- Correct wikimedia entries in OSM (wikidata and wikipedia tags thanks to https://matkoniecz.github.io/OSM-wikipedia-tag-validator-reports/Colombia%20(Kolumbia).html from Mateusz Konieczny).
- Adapt the OSM 15 puzzle to Colombia.
As I already mentioned I have started the local chapter of Maptime in Bogota. I have already done some mapping parties by convoking people with MeetUp and Kommunity to gather data from the field. Due to the Covid-19, I have organized virtual events to resolve notes of the city and Colombia in general, but also integrate the community. These events have helped us to improve the Colombian part of this wiki, by adjusting the documentation and creating new sections of topics not discussed or explained before.
I have collected many SITP bus stops in Bogota, and several routes of this transport system. I have created a project based on this freedom, which aims to provide a free map for Bogota citizens. It is called BogoMap.

Actualmente, mi principal interés en OSM es mapear mi ciudad natal, Bogotá, Colombia. A lo largo de los años he enfocado mis esfuerzos en estos elementos:
- Mapear los sistemas de transporte público.
- Mantener los límites administrativos y códigos postales de Bogotá.
- Mantener las fronteras de Colombia y línea costera, como también las regiones y departamentos.
- Resolver notas.
- Ajustar las página del wiki y mantener sincronizado la traducción español-ingles.
- De manera general mejorar el mapa.
Inicié el capítulo local de Maptime in Bogota. He hecho algunas fiestas de mapeo convocando gente por medio de MeetUp and Kommunity para levantar datos en terreno. Debido al Covid-19, he organizado eventos virutales para resolver notas de la ciudad, y también para integrar la comunidad. Estos eventos han ayudado a mejorar el wiki de la parte colombiana, ajustando la documentación y creando nuevas secciones de temas no discutidos o explicados antes.
También, me preocupo por las direcciones y nombramiento de calles en Colombia, las cuales no siempre se han mapeado correctamente, por lo que he creado un artículo en el wiki como también un desafío en MapRoulette con expresiones regular para corregir esto.
He recolectado muchos paraderos de buses del SITP en Bogotá, al igual que los trayectos de varias rutas de este sistema de transporte. He creado un proyecto basado en esta libertad, el cual busca ofrecer un mapa gratis para los bogotanos. Se llama BogoMap.

Dans ce moment, mon intérêt principal dans OSM est faire du mapping de ma villa de naissance, Bogotá, Colombia. Tout au long des années, j'ai concentré mes efforts dans les éléments suivants :
- Faire du mapping sur les systèmes de transport publique.
- Maintenir les limites administratives et des code postaux à Bogota.
- Maintenir les frontières et la côte maritime de Colombie, et aussi les régions et départements.
- Résoudre des notes.
- Ajuster les pages du wiki et maintenir synchronisé la traduction espagnol-anglais.
- Améliorer de manière général la carte.
J'ai commencé le chapitre local de Maptime in Bogota. J'ai organisé de fêtes de mapping en appelant les gens par MeetUp et Kommunity pour collecter des données sur le terrain. Dû au Covid-19, j'ai commencé à organiser des évènements virtuels pour résoudre des notes de la ville, ainsi intégrer la communauté. Ces évènements ont aidé à améliorer les articles du wiki associé a la Colombie, en ajustant la documentation et en créant des sections de sujets non discuté ou expliqué avant.
Aussi, je suis concerné pour les adresses et le nommage des rues en Colombie, lesquelles ne sont toujours pas bien designer sur la carte. Pour cette raison, j'ai créé un article dans le wiki, ainsi j'ai créé un défi sur MapRoulette avec des expression régulieres pour corriger ceci.
J'ai pris de donnés de arrêts de bus du SITP à Bogota, et aussi certains trajets de routes de ce système de transport. J'ai créé un projet basé sur cette liberté, lequel a pour but fournir une carte gratuite pour les citoyens à Bogota. Il s'appelle BogoMap.
