My name is Candid Dauth and I’ve been mapping for OpenStreetMap since November 2008. Back then the map still mostly consisted of main roads, and I contributed by mapping a few entire villages around the communes of Schemmerhofen, Schliersee and Bayrischzell and the Donau-Bodensee-Radweg (DoB) long-distance bicycle route in the south of Germany.

As a software developer, I am also contributing to the OpenStreetMap community by creating open-source software. Some of my projects are:

  • FacilMap: a privacy-friendly, open-source versatile online map that combines different services based on OpenStreetMap and makes it easy to find places, plan trips and add markers, lines and routes to custom maps with live collaboration.
  • OSM Route Manager: a tool to visualize and analyze OpenStreetMap relations to find gaps and mistakes in long-distance routes
  • OSM History Viewer: a tool to visualize and analyze OpenStreetMap changesets, to find out what has changed or who is responsible for a change
  • Leaflet.HighlightableLayers: A Leaflet plugin to outline lines and polygons with a border and to increase the width of the clickable/tappable area
  • Leaflet.DraggableLines: A Leaflet plugin to allow changing routes by dragging their existing or additional from/via/to points
  • Leaflet.AutoGraticule: A Leaflet plugin to show a graticule that automatically adapts its scale to the current zoom level
  • Leaflet.FreieTonne: A Leaflet plugin to embed FreieTonne into a Leaflet map.
