Wear OS is Googles operating System for smart watches. It is comparable to Apples watchOS. Although smart watches have a very small screen they can be used for displaying maps and turn-by-turn directions. Having a map at your wrist can be convenient if you want to quickly check your position with out having to take out your phone.
Applications
So far, there are not many Wear OS map apps with OSM data. These apps usually need a connection to the phone as they rely on a companion app. So quite often the smartwatch is used für displaying the map or turn-by-turn directions, while starting the navigation is done from the phone.
