它常用于描述纪念馆, 纪念碑, 雕像, 墙壁, 栅栏的材料，但也可用于除下面列出的使用其他标签的任何其他物理对象之外的任何其他物理对象：

• 建筑物外观 → building:material=*
• 建筑物屋顶 → roof:material=*
• 道路的表面 → surface=*
