Track gauge

Spain and the Iberian peninsula has traditionally used the Iberian gauge of 1668 mm.

But since the 1990s, new railways have been laid out that use standard gauge (1435 mm), mainly high-speed lines (LAV, línea de alta velocidad). Some metro systems and tramways also adopted this gauge.

In some parts of the country (e.g. Catalonia, the Basque Country, Cantabria and Asturias), local railways uses metre gauge:
