There is a new street parking schema. parking:lane=*/parking:condition=* was deprecated. This wiki-page has been updated to describe the new state of affairs, but likely still contains errors and incorrect information. Please use caution following the information on this page, until it has been thoroughly checked.

E Parking signs

Note: whenever street parking properties are tagged on a way with ahighway=* tag, use parking:side, where side is left, right or both and refers to the side of the street on which the parking is located (seen in the direction of the street (way) in OSM)

E11 Belgian traffic sign E11.svg Is put above an F1* sign. Within the whole built-up area, parking only allowed on the side of the road with odd-numbered houses between days 1 and 15 of the month, even numbers otherwise. There is no possibility to apply this rule in a zonal way. The same tags as described with signs E5 and E7 should be used. Maybe an additional tag parking:side:restriction:reason=BE:E11 could be used. It aligns with the meaning of the parking:side:restriction:reason=* key, but is undocumented at this time.

Extra signs

Image Description Tags
Indicating a maximum time, restriction or category. Used in combination with parking signs E9a to i When tagging as part of a highway, parking:side:maxstay=* (e.g. 30 minutes, 1 hour, 10 hours)

When tagging as an area, maxstay=*

Belgian road sign GVIIb.png

Belgian traffic sign GVIIb uitgezonderd bewoners.png

Mandatory use of parking disc (optionally added with "uitgezonderd bewoners"/"excepté riverains" (except residents)). Unless signed otherwise, the maxstay is 2 hours, and only applies on workdays (Monday-Saturday) and not on public holidays. Used in combination with parking signs E5, E7 and E9a to i When tagging as part of a highway, parking:side:maxstay=2 hours, parking:side:maxstay:conditional=no @ (18:00-09:00); no @ (Su,PH), parking:side:authentication:disc=yes, parking:side:authentication:disc:conditional=no @ (18:00-09:00); no @ (Su,PH)

Belgian traffic sign GVIId Handicap.svg Parking only for disabled drivers. Used in combination with parking signs E9a to i Because there are only a couple of parking spaces for disabled drivers, you would usually want to map them as individual spaces (with the amenity=parking_space tag). If this parking space is part of a larger parking lot, the larger parking lot should additionally be drawn and tagged with amenity=parking, encompassing the individual parking spaces.

Add to the area around the single parking space, amenity=parking_space, access=no, disabled=designated The legacy way of tagging uses, amenity=parking_space, parking_space=disabled

Indicates that parking is reserved for vehicles that have a maximum allowed mass that is higher than indicated on the sign. Used in combination with parking signs E9a to i (This information should be checked)

In theory, this sign requires the use of a new tag:

When tagging as part of a highway, add parking:side:minweightrating=*

When tagging as an area, add minweightrating=*

In practice, if the mass displayed on the sign is larger than 3.5 ton, the situation could be described by the tags:

When tagging as part of a highway, add parking:side:access=no, parking:side:tourist_bus=yes, parking:side:hgv=yes, parking:side:bus=yes

When tagging as an area, add access=no, tourist_bus=yes, hgv=yes, bus=yes

Belgian traffic sign GVIId 5t max.svg Indicates that parking is allowed for vehicles that have a maximum allowed mass that is lower or equal to that indicated on the sign. Used in combination with parking signs E9a to E9i. (This situation is currently not described on the street parking wiki page)

When tagging as part of a highway, parking:side:maxweightrating=*

When tagging as an area, add maxweightrating=*

Indicating a parking regulation at certain times. Used in combination with parking signs E1, E3 and E9a to i When tagging as part of a highway, add:

E1: parking:side:restriction:conditional=no_parking @ (07:00-19:00)
E3: parking:side:restriction:conditional=no_stopping @ (07:00-19:00)
E9a, E9e, E9f, E9g: parking:side:access=no, parking:side:access:conditional=yes @ (07:00-19:00)
For signs which only allow certain classes of vehicle to park (E9b, E9c, E9d, E9h, E9i), replace :access:conditional with the appropriate vehicle class. For example:

E9b: parking:side:access=no, parking:side:motorcycle:conditional=yes @ (07:00-19:00), parking:side:motorcar:conditional=yes @ (07:00-19:00)

When tagging as an area, add:

E9a, E9e, E9f, E9g: access=no, access:conditional=yes @ (07:00-19:00)

For signs which only allow certain classes of vehicle to park (E9b, E9c, E9d, E9h, E9i), replace :access:conditional with the appropriate vehicle class. For example:

E9b: access=no, motorcycle:conditional=yes @ (07:00-19:00), motorcar:conditional=yes @ (07:00-19:00)

Indicating a parking regulation on certain days. Used in combination with parking signs E1, E3 and E9a to i When tagging as part of a highway, add:

E1: parking:side:restriction:conditional=no_parking @ (Mo-Fr)
E3: parking:side:restriction:conditional=no_stopping @ (Mo-Fr)
E9a, E9e, E9f, E9g: parking:side:access=no, parking:side:access:conditional=yes @ (Mo-Fr)
For signs which only allow certain classes of vehicle to park (E9b, E9c, E9d, E9h, E9i), replace :access:conditional with the appropriate vehicle class. For example:

E9b: parking:side:access=no, parking:side:motorcycle:conditional=yes @ (Mo-Fr), parking:side:motorcar:conditional=yes @ (Mo-Fr)

When tagging as an area, add:

E9a, E9e, E9f, E9g: access=no, access:conditional=yes @ (Mo-Fr)

For signs which only allow certain classes of vehicle to park (E9b, E9c, E9d, E9h, E9i), replace :access:conditional with the appropriate vehicle class. For example:

E9b: access=no, motorcycle:conditional=yes @ (Mo-Fr), motorcar:conditional=yes @ (Mo-Fr)

Indicating a parking space reserved for electric vehicles, categories of vehicles may be added on the sign. Used in combination with parking signs E9a to i When tagging as part of a highway, add: parking:side:restriction=charging_only

When tagging as an area, you would usually want to map them as individual spaces (with the amenity=parking_space tag). If this parking space is part of a larger parking lot, the larger parking lot should additionally be drawn and tagged with amenity=parking, encompassing the individual parking spaces.

Add to the area around the single parking space: amenity=parking_space, restriction=charging_only and capacity=*

The legacy way of tagging uses, amenity=parking_space, parking_space=charging and capacity=*

When you can, also add the charging station with: amenity=charging_station

Belgian traffic signs parkeerkaart-bewoners-autodelen.png Parking space(s) reserved for: vehicles with a mandatory parking card ("parkeerkaart"/"carte de stationnement"), residents ("bewoners"/"riverains"), or carsharing ("autodelen"/"voitures partagées" ). Optionally added with indication of the time the parking is reserved for them. Used in combination with parking signs E9a to i When tagging as part of a highway, add:

Parking card:parking:side:access=private, parking:side:authentication:parking_card=yes Residents:parking:side:access=private, parking:side:private=residents

Carsharing::parking:side:access=no, parking:side:car_sharing=designated When tagging as an area, add: Parking card:access=private, authentication:parking_card=yes Residents:access=private, private=residents

Carsharing::access=no, car_sharing=designated

When tagging as an area, you would usually want to map them as individual spaces (with the amenity=parking_space tag). If this parking space is part of a larger parking lot, the larger parking lot should additionally be drawn and tagged with amenity=parking, encompassing the individual parking spaces.

The new way of tagging uses:

Parking card:access=private, authentication:parking_card=yes

Residents:access=private, private=residents

Carsharing::access=no, car_sharing=designated

The legacy way of mapping uses:
Residents: parking_space=resident
Carsharing: parking_space=carpool
Park and ride: parking_space=park_ride

Belgian traffic sign GVII ticket.png A sign "ticket" or which indicates you have to get a ticket from a ticket machine. Used in combination with parking signs E9a to i When tagging as part of a highway, add parking:side:fee=yes, optionally add the relevant parking zone with parking:side:zone=*

all used in combination with parking sign E9

Usually parking infrastructure aimed at bicycles and the like, is tagged with amenity=bicycle_parking on the node or area instead of amenity=parking. In addition to amenity=bicycle_parking, bicycle_parking=* describes the type of parking. To indicate which vehicles are allowed to park, use the tags: bicycle=yes/no, small_electric_vehicle=yes/no, mofa=yes/no, moped=yes/no, speed_pedelec=yes/no

There is currently no tag that describes that only bike-share vehicles are allowed to park. Maybe customer could be used instead of yes, to indicate that the parking cannot be used by the general public, but only by users of the bicycle-sharing network. For example, sign M23 could be tagged as: bicycle=customers
