A combustion engine produces mechanical force out of a fuel combustion.
Such engines are used in industry or in activities that requires something to move with a convenient fuel to get mechanical energy from.
This value covers all kind of combustion engine, internal and external with any fuel.
It's for instance relevant to use it in combination with man_made=pump or as backup electrical source with the help of a power generator coupled to the engine.
You may find them stationary or mobile to be used where they need to.
Note that in OSM we'll only map stationery devices despite your own car could actually be described with mechanical_driver=combustion_engine.
mechanical_driver=* should not be confused with actuator=* as the first is a primary energy source for a system while the last only commands it.
