The tag military_service=marines is added to military establishments, facilities and features to indicate that they are operated by the Marines: a country's naval infantry force that provides support for naval operations , especially in the field of amphibious operations.

This tag may be used if the Marines are part of a country's Navy but have large operational autonomy, such as their own bases and command structure (e.g. the Royal Marines). It is to be used for all Marine units, be they Regular, full-time forces, or part-time, volunteer Reserve forces.

This tag is not to be used for such groups as youth-based Military Cadets, military historical or re-enactment groups, or Veterans groups.

How to map

Create an area around the grounds or a node at the centre and add military_service=marines to a primary feature tag such as landuse=military or military=office to map a military establishment or facility that is operated by a country's Marines.
