Talk:Key:emergency
emergency=shelter
I would like to suggest another key: emergency=shelter. There are facilities that offer shelter and help in case of a disaster (especially in conflict areas) Kerosin 09:39, 14 September 2010 (BST)
- There are a couple of similar, but different tags that I've run across. amenity=shelter with shelter_type=weather_shelter is for a wilderness hut to get out of the rain or a thunderstorm. Also, there is social_facility=shelter, which is a shelters for the homeless, refugees, and domestic violence cases. I think there is a distinction that the tag emergency=shelter provides for a place to seek emergency shelter. In some parts of the USA, we have places to take shelter from severe weather events (tornadoes and hurricanes) that we call a shelter or a Safe room on Wikipedia and some are single use buildings, others also serve as school or churches. Bomb shelter would be another instance, but I don't know if that is the current word used. Other information about the shelter such as operator, address, toilet, kitchen, access=public/private, power, phone, radio, tv, communications equipment, wheelchair accessibility, and so on. - Micahcochran (talk) 18:05, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
fire alarm boxes
The emergency tag is missing a key to identify the fire alarm boxes emergency=fire_alarm_box which are important for cities like San Francisco in case of emergency. I'll be using it for my edits. See https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Why-S-F-still-counts-on-street-fire-alarm-boxes-3081293.php
- You propably wanted emergency=fire_alarm_box (achieved by {{Tag|emergency|fire_alarm_box}} code) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 07:56, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
Redirect from Emergency
The page Emergency redirects to here, however in the text "See the page Emergency for an introduction on its usage." is stated. Where can the introduction be found? --Athalis (talk) 11:45, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
- That's a good point, it's rather confusing. It would be good to have an actual introduction. --Jeisenbe (talk) 12:38, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
Use as an access tag on ways
It is noted that emergency=yes can be used as an access tag on roads, however the description side section says that this tag should not be used on ways.
Is this usage recommended for ways or not? --Qantas94Heavy (talk) 11:26, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
- emergency=yes is kind of pointless as an access tag - is there case where emergency vehicles are NOT allowed to enter? But maybe it would make sense to indicate that it is de facto used also in infobox... Feel free to edit it! Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 11:59, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
Other Stations to Rescue Stations
Following discussion on the https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Rescue_Stations & the tagging list https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2021-January/058006.html, have changed the heading of that section --Fizzie41 (talk) 02:58, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
Lifeboat stations
I notice we basically have duplicate tags for lifeboat stations. All of them (apart from northern Germany which only has amenity=) now have both amenity=lifeboat_station and emergency=lifeboat_station. Surely it would make sense to only use one of these, and inkeeping with the rest of the page it should probably use the emergency tag? GinaroZ (talk) 16:46, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- This was to be fixed as the emergency=marine_rescue part of my proposal. I'm about to get that part started again so will hopefully be approved this time? --Fizzie41 (talk) 00:13, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
List of emergency facilities and amenities
I've moved the list of emergency facilities and amenities on this page to a new page over at Emergency facilities and amenities. The main reason for this is that this page documents emergency=*, but the list (correctly) includes several amenity=* as well. I've kept the entries documented here, and added a few other amenity=*. Please have a look, and add related emergency related tags if applicable. --JeroenHoek (talk) 08:36, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
Emergency kit for Narcan/Naloxone on the map ?
The state of NY (and likely others) have a program where a Naloxone kit can be made available to folks (see this page, or this page on the same kit in Northampton, MA). I have seen one in the wild today in a forest/park, but I am not sure how to map it. This isn't a regular emergency kit, and no documented tag seems to correspond.
What would be the best way to map that one, and does someone know if it exist in others states/countries ? --Misc (talk) 03:56, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
