Recycling

• Used to describe sites only accept specific types of waste. recycling:*=* is therefore used to list all materials you're allowed to recycle or donate.
• Use material=* to describe the material of the container itself.
• Adding one or more types of waste with yes implies that all other types are considered not accepted.
• Adding a more general type or category of waste (e.g. recycling:scrap_metal=yes) implies that more specific types of waste within that category (e.g. recycling:aluminium) are also accepted.

recycling:glass	yes | no		Implies recycling:glass_bottles=*, but remains general and does not specify more delicate types of glass (drinking glasses, window glass, bulb glass, tempered glass, borosilicate glass, Pyrex). Street recycling bins are often only intended for use with recycling:glass_bottle.
recycling:glass_bottles	yes | no		Includes glass bottles and jars, but not the more delicate types listed under recycling:glass=*.
recycling:magazines	yes | no		Over 90% of uses repeats recycling:paper=*, but some places are tagged as allowing magazines without allowing paper.
recycling:newspaper	yes | no		Over 90% of uses repeats recycling:paper=*, but some places are tagged as allowing newspapers without allowing paper.
recycling:paper	yes | no		In some cases more specific tags may be needed if only specific form of paper needs to be recycled.

recycling:plastic	yes | no		In the UK at least, often centres/containers will distinguish between (broadly) hard plastics (typically ones that shatter), soft plastics (typically bendy food packaging; black food plastic may be an exception), carrier bags, and all other stretchy plastics. Many will accept only a subset of these, so try to pick more specific categories if you can.
recycling:plastic_bottles	yes | no		Places that only accept plastic bottles but not other plastic waste.
recycling:plastic_packaging	yes | no		A place that only accepts plastic packaging and does not accept larger plastics.
recycling:scrap_metal	yes | no		A place that only accepts scrap metal, but not all other types of metal.
recycling:shoes	yes | no		A container that only accepts donations of shoes (seems to duplicate recycling:clothes=*).
recycling:waste	yes | no		A recycling centre will accept "residual waste", that is the technical term for 'black bags'. Must be combined with recycling_type=centre or recycling_type=container + container=dumpster. For other disposal locations, such as amenity=waste_basket and amenity=waste_disposal, use waste=*.
Organic waste (classified by level of detail)
recycling:organic	yes | no		organic food scraps and other industrial waste=* that is recycled into biogas or compost. Particularly suitable for large composting centres, as some waste requires very high temperatures.
recycling:green_waste	yes | no		All green garden waste and also vegetables and fruit from our own consumption. See the following values for more details and according to the accepted inputs.
recycling:garden_waste	yes | no		Garden waste such as flowers, plants, grass clippings, leaves, twigs and small branches. If garden waste and food waste are collected separately, this tag is more precise.
recycling:food_waste=*	yes | no		Cooked and uncooked food, such fruit and vegetables including peelings, rice and bread, meat and fish, dairy, tea bags and coffee grounds. In places where garden waste and food waste are collected separately, this tag is more precise.

recycling:aerosol_cans	yes | no		Home and DIY (etc.) aerosol cans (e.g., hairspray, spray paint).
recycling:aluminium	yes | no		Container for aluminium.
recycling:asbestos	yes | no		Container for asbestos.
recycling:bags=*	yes | no		All kinds of bags. See also recycling:plastic_bags=*.
recycling:belts=*	yes | no		A container that only accepts donations of belts (seems to duplicate recycling:clothes=*).
recycling:bicycles	yes | no		Bicycle recycling or reuse.
recycling:boats	yes | no		Boats recycling or reuse.
recycling:books	yes | no		Recycling point for books. For book donations see amenity=public_bookcase.
recycling:car_batteries	yes | no		Some facilities will take household batteries recycling:batteries=* but not car batteries.
recycling:cds	yes | no		Compact discs and DVDs.
recycling:chipboard	yes | no		Container for chipboard.
recycling:christmas_trees	yes | no		Place where old Christmas trees are collected, use with opening_hours=*.
recycling:coffee_capsules	yes | no		Shows if recycling facilities take coffee capsules.
recycling:computers	yes | no		Computers recycling or reuse.
recycling:cooking_oil	yes | no		Container for cooking oil. For engine oil see recycling:engine_oil=*.
recycling:cork	yes | no		Container for cork.
recycling:diapers	yes | no		Container for diapers.
recycling:electrical_appliances	yes | no		Container for all electrical appliances. For more details see recycling:small_electrical_appliances=*, recycling:computers=*, recycling:mobile_phones=*, recycling:tv_monitor=* and recycling:white_goods=*.
recycling:engine_oil	yes | no		Container for engine oil. For cooking oil see recycling:cooking_oil=*.
recycling:fire_extinguishers=*	yes | no		A place where fire extinguishers can be deposited or recharged.
recycling:fluorescent_tubes	yes | no		Container for fluorescent tubes.

recycling:gas_bottles	yes | no		Pressurized gas bottles such as those for camping propane and butane. These are often prohibited elsewhere.
recycling:glass_bottles:colour	mixed | clear | green | brown		Semi-colon separated values of the colour(s) accepted. Suggested values include : "mixed", "clear", "green" (often also includes blue) and "brown". Note the use of "white" is likely a mistranslation and should only be used for truly white opaque glass. For a more general value see recycling:glass=*.

recycling:PET=*	yes | no		All kind of material made of polyethylene terephthalate (abbr. PET or PETE, recycling code 1). Please use recycling:pet_drink_bottles if only PET drink bottles are allowed.
recycling:pet_drink_bottles=*	yes | no		PET beverage bottles only.
recycling:plasterboard=*	yes | no		This usually includes all loose plaster, based on Gypsum.
recycling:plastic_bags=*	yes | no		Container for plastic bags only. See also recycling:bags=*.
recycling:plastic_bottle_caps=*	yes | no		Container for plastic bottle caps. See also recycling:plastic_bottles=* and recycling:plastic_caps=*.
recycling:plastic_caps=*	yes | no		Bottle tops made out of plastic, note that tag name does not include "bottle" part - and such places do not accept caps from say engine oil containers.
recycling:pmd=*	yes | no		Plastic packaging, metal packaging, drink cartons; combined household packaging, glass and paper excluded. Common way of collecting in The Netherlands and Belgium.
recycling:polyester=*	yes | no		Container for polyester.
recycling:polystyrene_foam=*	yes | no		Polystyrene foam. Can be styrofoam, generic extruded polystyrene foam, or generic expanded polystyrene foam.
recycling:printer_cartridges=*	yes | no		See recycling:printer_inkjet_cartridges=* or recycling:printer_toner_cartridges=* for more specific restrictions, since not all centres accept both ink and toner.
