Mapillary test
I'd like to insert some Mapillary's photos in the wiki:
What I've tried | Result of the action |
---|---|
First I tried to use the link you find clicking on the sharing button | https://www.mapillary.com/map/im/z1ufcgTyegwVFQGnfyjhtA |
Now I tried to insert an image this the former link | [Image from Mapillary showing RN3 road near to Bodanga II (in Central Africa Republic)] |
Now I've linked the URL showing image and minimap | [Link to Mapillary] |
Now I've linked the URL showing image and minimap using the standard HTML code | [[<a href="https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=5.444882278030988&lng=16.849150916821145&z=12.401516450524571&pKey=z1ufcgTyegwVFQGnfyjhtA&focus=photo" target="_blank"> | Link to Mapillary]] |
Now I've used a normal URL link | <a href="https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=5.444882278030988&lng=16.849150916821145&z=12.401516450524571&pKey=z1ufcgTyegwVFQGnfyjhtA&focus=photo"> |
Tips and general considerations
- Don't over-extract: do think we are going to map huge areas in several Countries. Bearing in mind this, try to map areas with a decent accuracy but don't spend too much time drawing landscape too accurately.
- One feature, one OSM element: Keeping the objects separately helps in modifying, delete, ect.. So if you have to map separate landuses or landcovers, if it isn't too boring, please draw different polygons close to each other, except if you're using multipolygon relations.
Most used features extracted (for the time being) under UNmapping Project
Purpose | Category | Comment | Satellite image | Satellite image |
---|---|---|---|---|
Aerodrome (airport) | Transportation | aeroway=aerodrome or landuse=military + military=airfield | ||
Beach | Natural or Developed | natural=beach. Beach is landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. | ||
Cemetery | Developed or Natural | landuse=cemetery or amenity=grave_yard (for very small areas or single graves), single grave yards are mapped as a point. | ||
Commercial | Developed | landuse=commercial - offices and non-retail services. | ||
Construction | Developed | landuse=construction - area currently under construction. | ||
Farm land | Agriculture | landuse=farmland Areas where the vegetation is dominated by grasses (Poaceae) and other herbaceous (non-woody) plants. | ||
Natural | Bare ground | landcover=bare_ground Where's no vegetation at all. | ||
Natural | Bare rock | natural=bare_rock An area with sparse or no vegetation, so that the bedrock becomes visible. | ||
Natural | Grass | natural=grassland A dwarf-shrub habitat, characterised by open, low growing woody vegetation, often dominated by plants of the Ericaceae. | ||
Natural | Heat | natural=heath A dwarf-shrub habitat, characterised by open, low growing woody vegetation, often dominated by plants of the Ericaceae. | ||
Natural | Scrub | natural=scrub Uncultivated land covered with shrubs, bushes or stunted trees. This feature in MGCP (Multinational geospatial co-prodution Program) is named "thicket". | ||
Natural | Wood / Forest | natural=wood Tree-covered area (a 'forest' or 'wood'). Not meant for "Managed woodland or tree plantation maintained by human" (for this use landuse=forest instead). | ||
Wetland | natural=wetland When you cannot / not able to choose the right kind of wetland, please don't try to guess, use the generic natural=wetland tag. | |||
Wetland | Bog | natural=wetland plus wetland=bog Bogs are peat (torba), poorly drained tracts of wet spongy ground. Tones range from medium grey to black. | ||
Wetland | Marsh | natural=wetland plus wetland=marsh A Marsh is a wet, inundated region that is void of woody vegetation and generally characterized by grasses, reeds, and other herbaceous vegetation. A Marsh usually exists near a large water source e.g. a lake, river or sea. | ||
Wetland | Swamp | natural=wetland plus wetland=swamp Swamp is an area of waterlogged forest, with dense vegetation. It is covered with water most of the year and accumulating dead vegetation. | ||
Industrial | Developed | landuse=industrial Predominantly industrial landuses such as workshops, factories, or warehouses. | ||
Industrial | Developed | man_made=storage_tank A container that holds liquids or compressed gases. | ||
Meadow | Agriculture | landuse=meadow - also used for pastures. | ||
Military | Military | landuse=military, and optionally also military=naval_base, military=range, military=danger_area or military=barracks. For military aerodrome use aeroway=aerodrome and aerodrome=military or military=airfield. | ||
Plantation | Agriculture | landuse=orchard - for coffee, tea, banana and oil palm plantations. | ||
Quarry | Developed | landuse=quarry - also used for open pit mines. | ||
Reservoir | Water | natural=water + water=reservoir for small reservoir use also seasonal=yes | ||
Residential | Developed | landuse=residential Draw a polygon and add the right place tag to it (see UN map for Somalia in order to choose the right value). Note: is some data come from UN data, don't forget to mention it adding the source tag (eg.: source=UNSOA II: SPOT5 image based data capture using different Ancillary Sources coming from UNSOA field mission). | ||
Residential | Developed | Shanty town; abandoned place. Just add a abandoned=yes tag to the residentail area, as long you can see some buildings. | ||
Residential | Developed | IDP camp amenity=social_facility + social_facility=shelter, if known add also social_facility:for=* choosing between migrant or refugee. If possible add the source and source:date tags. | ||
Waterway | Riverbank | waterway=riverbank The water-covered area of a river. Don't apply the name=tag, apply it on the river instead. Please remember in OpenStreetMap there's a limit of 2000 maximum points for an object; split long riverbanks in not so huge polygons. If the river is seasonal or intermittent, please add the same tags to the riverbank. |
