exclamation mark

This feature has been labeled as deprecated. The recommended replacement is: oneway:bus=* and regular lanes:bus=* / bus:lanes=* tags.
The reason is documented in Deprecated features. You are still free to continue to use or interpret this tag as you see fit since OpenStreetMap does not have “banned features”.
Under no circumstances should you (semi-)automatically change “deprecated” tags to something else in the database on a large scale without conforming to the automated edits code of conduct. Any such change will be reverted.

Was used on one-way roads which have a bus lane only in the opposite direction to the main traffic flow. It's deprecated in favour of oneway:bus=* and regular bus lane tagging.

The general tagging of contraflow bus lanes is oneway:bus=no and lanes:bus:backward=* (which counts the total amount of bus lanes in the opposite direction) or bus:lanes:backward=* (specifies access in the backward direction).

Historically, one would also use busway:<side>=lane in combination with busway:side:oneway=-1 (e.g. busway:left=lane + busway:left:oneway=-1) but that has been deprecated with busway=opposite_lane.
